We went to see the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre which you can walk up 197 steps or take a funicular. We decided to take the funicular up to the top and then walk down. It was built between 1875 to 1919.
I like churches, I love the architecture and the history, even though we are not church people. It is a whole different neighbourhood at the top and we spent some time walking around and then back down the stairs to find a spot for lunch.

Church
There were lots of people and yes, tickets were required

I love this
We spotted this guy going for a bike ride with his Mom
Down and down some more
Interesting sculptures on a wall as we were headed down the stairs
Lots of cute spots to stop for lunch or drinks
This is my last post on Paris, until much later in our trip! So I will finish with some miscellaneous photos. Our next Tour starts soon and we were off to Burgundy.
I did want to mention, there are so many cafes, restaurants, bakeries in the city you will never go thirsty or hungry! Clint had read about a place called Plaq which apparently makes the best hot chocolate ever. I am here to tell you….they do not. I had one sip and that was that !

Green Chartreuse a rather horrible and yet famous? drink in Paris served with biscuits
Shakespeare and Company book store

Outdoor market near the Eiffel Tower
I do love a cute restaurant cat !

I hope you enjoyed the photos of Paris!

I noticed that Trum isn’t around. I assume he’s holding down the fort back home?

Yup he is. My husband always says to bring him on our international trips but I’m so worried I’ll lose him☹️

The church is spectacular – you would have a stiff neck by the end of this trip from admiring all the architecture and gazing at the ceilings as well! Good thing you didn’t take the funicular to go back down -look at all the fun sights and/or shops you would have missed then! I like hot chocolate, but if I drank it in the daytime, I’d probably fall asleep – all that warm milk. 🙂 I admit this hot chocolate is an odd color and I’d pass up the Green Chartreuse drink and biscuit as it didn’t look like an appetizing combo. I would like the outside cafes and markets.

It was fun walking back down and I could take my time. Going up a bunch of stairs is not my favourite thing but coming down is ok. You know I rarely drink hot chocolate but for some reason I wanted one and it was so good! I am not a shopper but outdoor markets are different, they are more interesting than the malls.

Yes, if you can take your time, then you can appreciate the view and shops much more. Their stores looked fun and all the outdoor cafes would be a plus too.

I love sitting and having a coffee at one of the cafés and maybe a little treat too😊

Yes, they really beckon you don’t they? And, once you’re back home, stopping and having a pastry or a decadent treat with a coffee isn’t the same kind of treat as sitting in an outdoor café on a cobblestone street and watching the world go by.
