Arrowhead Provincial Park – July 2022, Part Two

This is probably one of the weirdest places I have ever been to. The owner and creator of the Screaming Heads is Peter Camani. He went to University of Waterloo for Sciences then transferred to the Arts. He taught art at a Secondary School; starting work on his property in 1981. When he retired from teaching in 2008, he continued his work on his property. Although known as the Screaming Heads, it is a Midlothian Castle, showing art installations which are about 20 feet high and done in concrete. Mr Camani says his sculptures stand as a warning against environmental degradation, resembling earth rebelling about what we are doing to it.

It’s quite something to see, no cost, just donations when you enter the property. He is always working on it and adding new items. It’s actually located on both sides of an old country road and there are trails you can walk on either side. It was a little hard for us to find but find it we did. There are also some small buildings on site that sell different crafts items and souvenirs.

After traipsing around some fields and seeing all the amazing sculptures, I mean that’s a lot of work right there, we headed into Burk’s Falls.

All in all, we had a pleasant day in Burk’s Falls and it’s only about a 30 minute drive.

After this spot, it was time to go home for a couple of days before we head out again in August to go to a few other Provincial parks…. Voyageur, Fitzroy and Rideau River.
