Mont St Michel – May 2025

This is a place I have seen photos of and heard about and it was surreal to finally be here and see it in person. You know, me and 25,000 other people that day lol.

Mont St Michel is a stunning piece of architecture built over several centuries from the 11th to the 16th century. Our guide told us the tide comes in once a month and is about 40 feet high. Not as high as the Bay of Fundy in Canada but still pretty high.

The same day we stopped at Omaha Beach. We had stopped there on our previous tour but that’s okay, we did not mind stopping again and it wasn’t raining this time.

We had a great trip and now we are headed back to Paris where we will stay, on our own, for a couple more days and then fly back to Toronto.

Off to Paris !

  1. I’ve seen pictures of Mont St Michel too, but just from a distance, never close-up/inside. What an amazing piece of architecture this is. No wonder it took so long to build it. And it’s so large – you forget the size until you had Clint standing in a tower near the flag and realize how it dwarfs him. That’s good you got to see Omaha Beach in better weather – yes it does look peaceful, like nothing happened, nor lost their lives. I wonder how many military personnel went into that church afterward – pray for friends/comrades, that they lived. I’ll look forward to your wrap-up of Paris!
